The production of fly ash bricks involves a technologically advanced, eco-friendly process that transforms industrial waste into high-quality building materials. The key raw materials include fly ash (a byproduct of coal combustion in thermal power plants), lime, gypsum, and sand. These materials are mixed in precise proportions using an automated batching system, ensuring uniform quality in every batch.
The mix is then compressed in a hydraulic press machine, which applies high pressure to form dense, well-shaped bricks with smooth surfaces.
Unlike traditional clay bricks, which require kiln firing, fly ash bricks are cured using water, significantly reducing energy consumption and emissions. This process not only saves fuel but also eliminates harmful pollutants released during brick firing.
The bricks are tested for compressive strength, water absorption, and durability to ensure they meet industry standards. The technology used in fly ash brick production results in bricks that are lighter, stronger, and more thermally efficient than clay bricks. Additionally, this method conserves topsoil, prevents land degradation, and contributes to sustainable construction.
With these technologies, fly ash bricks offer an eco-friendly, cost-effective, and high-performance alternative for modern building projects.
Fly Ash Bricks
Clay Bricks
The colour of fly ash brick is uniform as the manufacturing is carried out using machinery in controlled condition.
Uniform in shape and smooth in finish as the manufacturing is carried out using machinery.
As the surface is even and joints are thinner, (mortar saving 50%) also no plastering required in normal cases.
Fly ash bricks has same weight as clay bricks.
Fly ash bricks are less porous.
The price of fly ash brick is lower than clay brick of equivalent quality and size
This is made by using by-product of Thermal Power Plant, which save environment from being polluted.
Not in uniform colour as the colour of brick depends upon type of soil and quality control during production.
Clay bricks are uneven in shape as mostly clay bricks are made manually.
As the surface finish is not even, plastering is necessary.
Same weight as Fly Ash bricks
Clay bricks are more porous.
The cost of clay brick is higher than fly ash brick.
Continuing use of clay bricks in construction industry will lead to extensive loss of fertile top soil. This could be a devastating environmental hazard.
Fly Ash bricks Wall
Due to uniform size of bricks, mortar required for joints & plaster reduces by almost 50%.
Plaster of Paris / Putty can be directly applied on these bricks without a backing coat of plaster.
Clay bricks Wall
Bad Quality of bricks weather with time requiring costly repairs.
Cannot be used without plastering.
